Do you know of a just and sustainable infrastructure initiative in Africa that meets infrahub.africa's criteria (see below)? We would love to hear about it.

Fill in this form to propose an initiative, and if it sounds like a good match, we will follow up with you or the contact provided for further information.

In the 'Description' field, please provide details of how the initiative relates to each of infrahub's criteria, and explain your connection to it.

When evaluating the initiative's suitability for infrahub.africa, the following will be considered:

Does it provide benefit to the poor?
Does it create decent jobs for locals?
Does it minimise or reverse environmental damage?

In some cases, high performance on 2 of these 3 dimensions may justify the inclusion of a initiative, as long as it does not act against the 3rd dimension.

Infrahub.africa forms part of a university research project. Information, images and documents provided may be used as part of this research at the discretion of the researchers. For more information on the project, please visit the 'About' page

By uploading contact details here, you confirm that they are accurate and that you have permission to share them with infrahub.africa.

If you wish to edit or update a initiative once it is uploaded, please use the 'Suggest an Edit' function at the end of the case study to inform us.

Volunteer

In addition to our core research team, we welcome voluntary contributions from academics and researchers with an interest in just and sustainable infrastructure in African cities.

In particular, we are interested in those fluent in French, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili or other African languages and with networks on the continent who can help us to source examples from under-represented countries.

Your approved contributions to growing and improving this database are made on a voluntary basis  (i.e. without remuneration), and if included, those contributions will be acknowledged in the proposed citation at the end of each example.

Spread the word

Infrahub.africa aims to raise the profile of innovative African approaches to delivering services, and welcomes partnerships with educators or media partners interested in supporting this. In particular, we are interested in those who are able to share these stories with African youth, or those with resources to support these and similar initiatives.

Lend a hand

Many of the initiatives featured on infrahub.africa have reported financial and capacity constraints that hinder their ambitions.

The Resources page aims to connect them to relevant opportunities that could provide the support they need. We’re also interested to hear of any ideas that could help infrahub.africa with maintenance and operation costs beyond 2026, to ensure that it is sustainable in the long term.
